Seoul announced official spring flower trails
The pathway along the Anyangcheon Stream in Yeongdeungpo-gu District, Seoul,
offers some of the most beautiful cherry blossom walking trails every April.
Spring has sprung. The flower buds have started to bloom and warm and sunnier weather has arrived.
In Seoul, forsythia and azalea are expected to fully bloom around April 2 or 3, and cherry blossoms around April 13. The Seoul Metropolitan Government has now officially listed its “170 Beautiful Spring Flower Trails in Seoul,” helping citizens to head out and to enjoy the season.
The 170 paths and walkways are divided into five categories: spring flower trails for a picnic, spring flower trails for a drive, spring flower trails for a walk or exercise, spring flower trails for seeing special flowers, and, finally, spring flower trails for festivals.
The trails recommended for a picnic are easy to get to and have other things to enjoy, other than just flowers: the Jungnang Campground, the Dream Forest, the Seoul Forest, the Children’s Grand Park, Seoul Grand Park, Boramae Park, Seokchonhosu Lake, the Seoul National Cemetery and Ansan Mountain.
To go on a drive with raining petals, roads such as Inwangsan-gil Road in Jongro-gu District, Walkerhill-gil Road in Gwangjin-gu District, Gomdallae-ro Road in Gangseo-gu District and Beotkkot-ro in Geumcheon-gu District are recommended. Also, the Hangang River, Jungnangcheon Stream, Bulgwangcheon Stream, Anyangcheon Stream, Yangjaecheon Stream and Cheonggyecheon Stream are perfect for a light walk along the waterways.
The Seoul Iris Garden in Dobong-gu District, Seoul, is home to 130 types of iris that burst into bloom every spring.
Whereas most of Seoul’s spring flower trails are decorated with azalea, cherry blossoms or forsythia, places like the Seoul Iris Garden, which has 130 types of iris, offer a unique view every spring. The Cheonggyecheon-ro Road and Wolgye-ro Road in Seongbuk-gu District, and Rodeo Street in Songpa-gu District, are also somewhat different from other flowered trails, thanks to the white flowers of the trees planted along the boulevards.
Sinteuri Park in Yangcheon-gu District and the Herb Astronomy Park in Gangdong-gu are also worth a visit because of their wildflower beds and herbal trails.
