What currency is used in Korea?
The won is the unit of currency in South Korea.
There are four kinds of bills; 50,000won, 10,000won, 5,000won and 1,000won, and four kinds of coins; 500won, 100won, 50won and 10won.
You can exchange your money into Korean won at authorized currency exchange booths which are mainly in all the main tourist spots as well as banks, airports, hotels and shopping malls.

The 50,000 won bill was first issed in June. Shin Saimdang, a Korean artist, is drawn on it.
On 10,000 won bill, Sejong the Great, a king of Joseon-era, is on the green-colored bill.
Yi l, aka Father of Korean Confucianism, is on the 5,000 won bill. His mother is Shin Saimdan on the 50,000 won bill.
Yi Hwang who is one of the two most prominent Koran Confucian scholoras is on the blue-colored, 1,000 won bill.
