Bukchon Hanok Village
Surrounded by Gyeongbokgung(Palace), Changdeokgung(Palace) and Jongmyo Royal Shrine, Bukchon Hanok Village was the residential area for rich people, but it had changed to modern style in 1930s’. Recently, they are equipped with up-to-date facilities, so you can feel such an attractive village that is in harmony with traditional and modern design. Bukchon has countless hanoks (traditional Korean houses). Bukchon is also called “the street museum in the urban core,” having many historical spots and cultural heritage sites.
Since it is located in the northern part of Cheonggyecheon and Jongno, people named this area Bukchon, which means northern village. In the village, there are Gahoe-dong, Songhyeon-dong and Samcheong-dong, whose names evoke affection in all Seoulites.

Tong-In Market
It’s a traditional market located in center of Seoul, near Gyeongbok Palace. It’s established in 1941 for the Japanese residents as a public market. After in 2005, it’s started to be modernized and now around 70 shops, selling such as Korean street foods, side dishes, vegetables, fruits and clothes, shoes, are lined up on either side of the market road.
In 2014, when John Forbes Kerry, who is the 68th United States Secretary of State, visited Korea, he drop by the Tong-In Market. He tasted Tteokbokki stir- fried in oil, which is the most popular one in the market.

Lunchbox Café in Tong-In Market
There is an interesting thing in the market, which is ‘Dosirak Café’, literally ‘Lunchbox Café’. At the customer service center, located on 2nd floor, you can get a food tray and some coins which worth 500KRW per each. Only using 5,000KRW, you can have a good lunch. If you pay for the food by using coins, the vendors will fill in your empty tray. Many people always queue for their foods. After you fill in the tray by delicious foods, go back to the customer service center again and sit on the cafeteria. Complete you meal having the rice and some soup provided from there.

National Folk Museum
TheNational Folk Museum is located on the compound of Gyeongbok palace. It shows you the traditional life of both the ordinary people and aristocracy. It has exhibits from all parts of Korea. There ae displays of traditional farming methods, hunting, weaving, cooking and other house keeping chores.
Gyeongbokgung Palace

The National Palace Museum
The national palace museum was established in 2005 inside of Gyeongbokgung Palace. When they first opened, only five galleries were existed. After completing the renovation, the galleries increased to ten with about 40,000 royal treasures and artifacts. The national palace museum is making an effort to promote and preserve the splendid legacy of the Joseon dynasty.
