Located in the southwestern part of the peninsula, Jeollanam-do is known as Korea’s breadbasket. It has been said that, starting in their distant past, the Korean people would not have been able to have come into being had it not been for the food produced in this region.
Korea is marked by four distinct seasons and Koreans have traditionally believed that eating fresh seasonal foods in the spring help them to stay healthy throughout the year.
Immediately following her performance, Kim said that she had successfully done her best and had shown all that she had worked for during her training. She also said, “As I have been repeatedly saying, a gold medal isn’t important to me. Simply competing in the [Olympic] games has given more meaning to me. I’m content because I have done everything that I could have done.”
